Phelan’s departure also comes after #Defense Secy #PeteHegseth fired the #Army’s top officer, Gen #RandyGeorge. #Hegseth also fired several top generals, admirals & other defense leaders since taking office last year. As with those other firings, Pentagon ofcls did not offer a reason for Phelan’s departure.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth asked George to step down and take immediate retirement, CBS News exclusively reported earlier this week.
