The #BattleOfUhud / #GhazwatʾUḥud (غزوة أحد) was fought and lost on #ThisDayInHistory in 625 by the #Muslim army under #Muhammad. The #Quraysh forces of #Mecca/#Makkah met the Muslims near Mount Uhud and, due to a tactical error by Muhammad's archers, inflicted heavy casualties.
The #BattleOfBadr, on #ThisDayInHistory in 624, was the first major fight between #Muhammad's new Muslim community of #Medina and the #Quraysh forces of #Makkah/#Mecca. Badly outnumbered, the #Quran attributes Muslim success to a thousand angels, there to boost Muslim confidence.
The war between #Quraysh clans of #Mecca/#Makkah and the early #Muslim forces under #Muhammad ended in the town's surrender on #ThisDayInHistory in 630. Because of that, their property and lives were spared, with the exception of the idols in the #Qaba, which were destroyed.

One of the Sahaba thought that there would be revenge, massacre.

But Prophet (ﷺ) said, “today is the day of mercy”

This is who the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ really was! ❤️ by OnePath Network channel

Here is a reference (original) I found:

Ibn Asakir reported: When Sa’d passed by Abu Sufyan with the banner of the Prophet on the day Mecca was liberated, he announced, “O Abu Sufyan! Today is a day of slaughter! Today the unlawful will be lawful! Today Allah will disgrace the Quraish!” So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “O Abu Sufyan, today is a day of mercy. Today Allah will honor the Quraish.”

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Ibn Hajar

Al-Mawardi said, “The Prophet made it a day of mercy and he rejected that it would be a day of slaughter. Thus, it shows that it was reconciliation without violence.”
