Lulu PowerfulI've done four postgrad courses on #statistics, but none of them ever defined "likelihood". It's like all the lecturers just assumed someone else had defined it for us. Haha!
So I was able to derive a maximum likelihood estimator, but I couldn't explain what I was maximising, and why.
But then I started listening to the #quantitude podcast. The hosts are so funny, and I get to level up my stats while I'm washing the dishes. :)

Tim VantilborghJust listened to the Halloween episode of #Quantitude and one of the fears described hits close to home. They describe how the increased complexity in datasets (e.g., from ESM studies) increases the complexity of data wrangling and, thus, the chances of coding errors. The chances of not making a coding error seem quite slim. I guess this again emphasises the need for sharing scripts or using coding buddies to check code.
