Did you know? Delon was meant to play the part of Philippe Greenleaf, but talked to director René Clément to play the part of Tom Ripley. Clément's wife interfered and said Delon was right. And he got the other part. Delon really made his breakthrough with this very atmospheric thriller from 1960, filmed in Italy in 1959. Locations include Rome and Naples. He had no (classical) acting training and immediately after Plein Soleil Visconti's Rocco and his brothers was released (also with a Delon in the moving picture) Another Italian connection. 3 years later he was able to appear again
