It's weird how it took me 35–40 minutes to go from my home in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, to Rockefeller Center, way up in Midtown, and yet going from my home to Brookfield Center takes at least 30 minutes. Even though it's so much closer.
Sure, I took an express train, and I also have to walk an extra 10 minutes after the subway. I just didn't realize those 2 things would matter so much.
This B train is really practicing its slimbo skills. As in:
Limbo = how Low can you go?
Slimbo = how...
(For non-New Yorkers, the B subway route is *supposed* to be an express service.)
I don't think I've ever had a commute from my home to this office take that long. I don't know WTF is wrong with the Q train from Brooklyn to Midtown today, but 1/5 stars, would not recommend.
The L train between Brooklyn and Manhattan was down for an hour and a half, but has been restored: https://gothamist.com/news/l-train-service-suspended-between-brooklyn-and-manhattan-due-to-power-loss-mta-says
I love how paragraph 3 says this issue "mucked up commutes"; I can only assume autocorrect Failed to Figure out the Fine First letter that was intended. 🤣
I absolutely respect bus drivers' right to not have to put themselves in danger collecting fares. But the best solution would be to just do what I've been advocating for the subway, as well:
Don't have a fare.
Make it free to ride. Just pay for the whole thing with taxes. (Congestion pricing would help with that, and fuck Gov. Hochul.)

Get rid of it! I avoid #Melbourne #PubTrans due to myki being unfriendly, unintuitive.
Casual users have to pre-plan the journey to have a $6 #myki card acquired & topped up, & the top up amounts don’t match the fare prices, meaning there’s always money in limbo, which is lost when the myki cards “expire” (WTF?!)
