Tap And Go will be a good option for many, but it only offers adult #Myki Money fares. State Govt should introduce an automatic weekly cap, same price as the 7 day Myki Pass, so everyday users can get the cheaper weekly rate.
If you want to have a listen to the #Myki Tap And Go segment, it's online here. Starts at about 45m:30s. (I guess someone forgot to unmute me at first!) https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/melbourne-mornings/mornings/106762022
Mornings - ABC listen

Informed, entertaining, thought-provoking radio that asks the questions that Melbourne wants asked.

ABC listen
Was just talking on ABC radio about #Myki Tap And Go. Good question from a caller: can you get a refund on your card balance if you want to switch to using credit card/phone? Yes you can, but it’s probably easier to just use it up, then switch.
Oh ffs. "commuters will still require a physical myki card to travel on trams and buses until a wider system upgrade, expected in 2027." #Melbourne #Myki

Some commuters can finally ditch myki cards. But there are key exceptions

Those on trams and buses will still need a physical card. And myki passes won’t be supported by the new system.

The Age

#Melbourne train passengers are about to get a 21st-century ticketing system, just a quarter of the way into said century. Tram and bus passengers? Who knows when. #Myki

Melbourne trains finally arrive in the Myki-less era with tap-and-go payments, almost a decade after Sydney

Phones, debit and credit cards can be used on several metropolitan and V/Line services from this weekend

The Guardian
Tap and Go options have taken a looooong time to arrive. This will make a big difference to new and occasional users.
Available for V/Line #Myki stations and Melbourne's west/north west, south/south east lines from tomorrow. Other metro lines from next Sunday.
Timely reminder for #melbourne and #victorians - even if you tap on with #myki, you can be kind to people who can't afford/don't use it, by taking a long time to find your myki with an inspector asks. Forget which pocket, can't find your wallet in your bag etc. Just keep faffing and delaying. Give other people a chance to move away or get off at the next stop.
Time to find your #Myki! Half price fares start on Monday.
Getting on public transport and not having to worry about having a #myki feels so good. I wonder if people will get out of the habit of paying and start fare dodging at the end of April. #melbourne #Victoria
