Nice, juin 2025, je prend le temps pour me poser, pour me pauser même... dans un monde où tout va si vite.
Devant moi, l’horizon, la mer... et l’air, si bon à respirer... un goéland s’y est arrêté, il flotte sans effort, se laisse porter par le courant - tout comme moi par l’instant présent - et, sur ce muret, finit par se poser, tranquille, pas menacé.
Derrière moi, au pied du château, le dispositif de sécurité est déjà impressionnant... je remonte le temps : Évian, le sommet du G8 et son contre-sommet à Annemasse, deux mondes, deux visions... mais que protègent-ils en fait ?
C’est bon de ne rien faire... rien ? Vraiment rien ?
Le temps me ratrappe, il est temps de partir, la réponse est tombé depuis, mais les seules batailles perdues d’avance sont celles qu’on refuse de livrer.

A lovely bit of reverse glass lettering done around 1929 - we've tried to date it from the changes to the Promenade des Anglais in the photo.

The original is on a bit of 1930s tourist tat firmly stuck to a piece of glass. When the glass got broken, it was essentially worthless so there was no harm in repainting the surrounding glass in a different style (last photo).
I'm still not sure what to do with the frame though :-)

In occasione dei 200 anni della Promenade des Anglais, sotto i suoi tipici pergolati è stata allestita una grande mostra fotografica con i dipinti, i ritratti dei passanti, le scene familiari e i principali eventi storici e festivi che hanno avuto luogo nei 200 anni dalla creazione della Promenade des Anglais. Inaugurata nel 1824 grazie alla comunità anglicana di Nizza era destinato ad essere un luogo di passeggio elegante per l'aristocrazia britannica che vi svernava.
