When you read text written for the general public, it often says that apps from the #MicrosoftStore run "in a #sandbox". But is this just simplified terminology and the actual technical concepts have different names?

Because, I don't see any column in Task Manager or the much more nerdy #ProcessExplorer that would say "sandbox".

(Compare to macOS where Activity Monitor has a column in the CPU view that simply says "Sandbox".)

And was it so that Microsoft now has backtracked on this sandboxing anyway, and more and more apps in the store just run like any old Win32 executable, without any restrictions?

BYOVD - Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver

The AuKill tool, which abuses the outdated 16.32 version of Microsoft's Process Explorer driver to disable the EDR processes, was used in at least three ransomware attacks since the start of the year. In two of the incidents – one in January, the other a month later – attackers deployed the Medusa Locker ransomware after AuKill paved the way through the EDR defenses.

I can't imagine using #Windows without #ProcessExplorer. Randomly locked files & directories would mean so many needless reboots & so much lost sanity. So satisfying to expose the culprits (looking at you Adobe).
