#PVpanel + #Battery without #PowerConverter

In applications where loading happens only at night (E.g. street lights), by choosing the right combination of PV panel and battery, one need not use any power converter for operating near the Maximum Power Point (MPP) on a typical sunny day.

I have lost track of how many #PowerConverter issues I've solved using just one trick:

Choosing the switching frequency correctly.

It is a delicate balancing act, but often gives satisfactory results.

I had a GaN based power converter board with broken transistors. This is a six layer board with lots of power planes. Desoldering the GaN chips is very hard so I decided to try milling the thing off.

It worked perfectly. I milled almost down to the pads leaving a bit of the package. After the milling step a small cleanup is necessary.
