While we could not have known how long it would take to achieve an agreement, trust in the #sagaftra Negotiating Committee is paramount. I’m fortunate to know NegCom members & I believe them when they say their unanimous vote is in support of truly worthwhile gains for all who work in the #film & #tv industries.
Though the #SAGAFTRAstrike may be suspended, patience must prevail in order for #ai protections, wins in #streaming residuals, and the many other gains achieved by the #sagaftra Negotiating Committee for professional #actors to be implemented. 🧵

While picketing locations are closed, it’s important for other processes to play out.
First, the National Board must review & vote upon the Tentative Agreement. If & when the National Board votes to approve the Tentative Agremeent, agreement details will be shared with membership. Then, a formal membership vote must be taken. If & when a membership vote to accept the agreement is received & tallied, only then will a new TV/Theatrical contract be in place. 🧵

I’m grateful to the members of the #sagaftra Negotiating Committee for their tireless efforts in the face of frustrating obstructionism, and the unity of the membership during this historic and impactful period. 🧵

Absolutely. As an Actor (mostly ex) I know several fantastic voice over artists whom I would employ by paying them actual money, rather than using the horrific proposal by Kindle to have an audiobook generated by AI, which will gut the voice over industry for the sake of corporate greed.

If highly trained #actors — people who have dedicated their lives to the practice of a #craft — are replaced in streaming and linear #media by #AI objects, so, too will be replaced all the craftspeople who find fulfillment and purpose in the creation of scripted #storytelling.
