These two beautiful and deadly poisonous Death Caps, Amanita phalloides, were practically glowing when I encountered them yesterday evening. The bright colours and the sack-like base are good indicators, although I have been told there are edible look-alikes, especially when it appears less colourful or is in its young state. Researching this mushroom, I learned that it is the most poisonous mushroom known, responsible for around 90% of all mushroom-related deaths - so I obviously did not pick it!
