Poetry Journal : Rising Joy

In shadows cast by life’s cruel hand,I stand alone on desolate land,
Lost, forsaken, my heart bereft,
In a world where bonds I once had left.

With weary steps, I tread this path,
Where laughter once danced, now silent wrath,

Isolation’s cloak tightens its hold,
As sorrow’s whispers pierce my soul, bold.

Longing for connections, lost and gone,
Yearning for love, yet feeling withdrawn,

But though the world may turn its back,
Within me flickers strength, never to lack.

In solitude’s embrace, I find my voice,
To rise above, to make a choice,

To seek solace in my own embrace,
And rewrite the narrative, with grace.

Embracing my essence, proud and free,
I discover strength that resides within me,

In self-acceptance, I find my worth,
A radiant spirit, embracing rebirth.

Through the open doors of vulnerability,
I find kindred souls, a shared affinity,

In diverse voices, a symphony of care,
Friendships blossoming, connections to share.

And as the echoes of laughter resound,
Love’s gentle arms wrap me around,

In chosen family, a haven of light,
Together we conquer the darkest of night.

The past may fade, but hope shall remain,
A beacon of love, erasing the pain.

So, let the wounds of yesteryear heal,
With each sunrise, a renewed zeal,

For in the depths of despair, I find,
Strength to rebuild, and leave pain behind.

My author copies have arrived - what a joy to hold them. It was a deeply moving & sometimes difficult experience to read poems as guest editor, due to the subject matter. We were a team of 6 for this reason.

But, what a collection this is. I am speechless, these poets 🕯️🕯️

To Light The Trails- Poems By Women In A Violent World – Sídhe Press

Dear @bookstodon
I had a lovely thing happen to me last night. Someone contacted me to say how much they enjoyed a poem I had in Sinn und Form a year ago (!), and asked which collection it was from. It was a short message but it made my day. If you read something you really like, consider telling the person who wrote it. #writinglife #poetryjournal

On an August No One Knows, 2019

by Alba Sarria CW: Miscarriage, blood, and mourning.   The ocean comes out in mourning now and I wade out, tepidly. At some point you ceased but I stayed black-veiled and waiting, forced hopeful as the little red beads crept down the curved inside of my thighs: Your life escaping me one drop at a time. The pre-dawn fish gather, mouths suckling. If I cannot have you then they will take

NEW POEM: "Half Crumbled Silo in a Half Fallow Field" by Grant Clauser

"Say there’s enough ruin to go around.
Say the song the bats keep to themselves
is a song of longing, calling out
to the night’s open palm"

Half Crumbled Silo in a Half Fallow Field

by Grant Clauser   Say there’s enough ruin to go around. Say the song the bats keep to themselves is a song of longing, calling out to the night’s open palm when the difference between a palm and fist is what you know about words. Like ruin – the kind covered by decades or weeds, a word that changes meaning when the land changes
