I still think that Dylan Thomas' "Fern Hill" is a perfect poem... So I'm sharing it here, if you need a poem today. Maybe read it out loud, it's got such a lovely music to it.

🐺 A new poem
For anyone who’s ever worn the wrong skin,
bit their own tongue,
or forgotten how to howl.
Sheepish Wolf and Hollering Dogs
by Raphael Hythloday/Wittgenstein's Monster/Eshu Elegbara/Clint
Once upon a time there was a wolf
that dreamed he was a sheep
While he slept a deep sleep,
he forgot how to leap.

This essay I wrote in 2020 is the closest I have come to a mission statement.
Realising it was no longer available online made me sad, so I fixed that and rehomed it on Substack.

There's a whole bunch of queer love poems: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/collections/101691/queer-love-poems
Carol Ann Duffy is a queer poet: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poets/carol-ann-duffy
Her collection The World's Wife is a good place to start.
This collection is also pretty cool: The Choreic Period (Latif Askia Ba) - you can read sample poems of his at The Poetry Foundation: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poets/latif-ba
And: Jericho Brown, who won the 2020 Pulitzer for poetry (collection: The Tradition)
Time for #ThreeGoodThings :
1) the amaryllis flower has opened! second blossom is on its way.
2) made a tasty 'experiment' - a sort of vegan lasagna consisting of red lentils, soy mince, very finely sliced potatoes, vegan cheese and vegan cream.
3) sent out a poem today. (Chestnut Review is open to submissions until the end of the month).
A helpful piece about ableism in workshop feedback / expectations, by Sarah Fawn Montgomery:
"I wanted to write stories about bodies and brains like mine without having to justify that yes, this really did happen and, yes, I really did feel this way, and no, I was not exaggerating to garner attention or sympathy."

Insightful, heartening read by Mia You on (non) native English, (poetry) translation, and who owns language:
https://www.poetryfoundation.org/articles/1659311/poets-on-translation-the-alternative-speaker
"The English of possibility. The English in the imagination. The English reclaimed and reinvented by the (neo-)colonized speaker. You find a way to stretch the language to fit you and your stray prepositions."
