The last stop on our wandering afternoon was Dolly's Ice Cream on 276 just on the way in (or out) of Pisgah Forest. Again, most of the kids are back in school, so it was a lot easier...

Yes, there was ice cream; no, I am not sharing those photos.

A fairly old-fashioned-looking place, they always have a large variety of different flavors. Today's had chocolate in 3 fashions, along with peanut butter, supposedly.

SAHC, a good organization in my area, protecting water and #mountains for years to come. They will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2024.

We donate to them, as they picked up protection for 139 acres at the top of Scott's Ridge, near where we live. This saved the mountain top, which abuts the #PisgahNationalForest from planned residential development.

The #PostHike #Picnic payoff for this morning. We tend to #hike early and without breakfast, so have gotten smarter about taking the necessities with us for afters.

This is the #CoonTreePicnicArea in #PisgahNationalForest They had a good dozen picnic tables, but we found this one in a quiet area by the creek.
