Hello #Photography people!

Got a question.

I bought a lens from a thrift store. A Tamron 70-300 with an EF mount. Zoom twist is broken, but I can still use it as a push-pull.
My question though is,

Is there a way to get smells out of a camera lens?

I'm not sure if it's cleaning/delousing fluid from the thrift store, or cigarettes or what, but it has a definite smell coming from the inside when using the zoom.

I don't want to add anything that would make it worse, but I'd like to be able to use it without having to wash my hands afterward.
