International Assembly 2026

International Assembly 2026

The Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg boasts a robust international network, collaborating with 58 universities worldwide. The „International Assembly 2026“ is a key platform for the exchange of ideas in teaching, research and practice.
Under the title „Social Work, Human Rights and the Rights of Nature“, professors from universities in the Philippines, Canada, Peru, Uganda and India are visiting Ludwigsburg with the support of the DAAD, Erasmus+ and ISAP.
The focus lies on the connection between social and environmental justice, with a particular focus on indigenous communities and environmental activists.
„The social work of the future is aware of the environmentally induced impacts on vulnerable people and takes a stand on their behalf!”. said Principal Prof. Dr. Andrea Dietzsch in her welcome speech. “The social work of the future conceives of social justice just as much as ecological justice.”
At the reception in Ludwigsburg Town Hall hosted by Dr. Matthias Knecht, he emphasised: „I can only encourage you to urge your students to participate in international exchange programs, because the different approaches and perspectives can only be beneficial.”

Benguet’s Honorio Banario wins gold at Abu Dhabi Combat Club, Asia Pacific Sub Only Gi and No Gi

Honorio Banario

ONE Championship athlete Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, of Mankayan, Benguet, Philippines has been busying himself in grappling tilts recently. The Team Lakay warrior and former ONE Featherweight World Champion just took home three gold medals in two grappling events in one day.

Banario competed under the banner of John Baylon’s Clube de Jiu Jitsu Filipinas in both events. He won gold at the Philippine staging of Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC), a premier grappling competition with distinct rules geared toward submission wrestling, on October 7, 2018.

On the same day, Banario took home two gold medals at Asia Pacific Sub Only Gi and No Gi tilt. The medals were for winning both gi and no-gi matches at the blue belt level, where he competed at the Under 85kg weight class.

“I’m hoping to compete more in BJJ (Brazilian jiu-jitsu) in the future,” Banario said. He added that he will do so as long as it does not interfere with his schedule in mixed martial arts.

The Mankayan native said he was “back to the drawing board” following his loss to Amir Khan, 23, of Singapore. The former noted, “I hope I continue to improve.”

On September 8, 2018, Khan took Banario’s back in the first round at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” and ended matters abruptly with a rear naked choke. This ended the Team Lakay warrior’s five-bout winning streak.

On November 23, 2018, Team Lakay will have another crack at Khan through Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, of Baguio City, Philippines. The two will compete for the vacant ONE Lightweight World Championship in the main event of “ONE: Conquest of Champions” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

As for Banario, he said he is just waiting for the announcement of his next bout. He said, “Right now, I’m waiting on ONE Championship for a call so I’ll just keep focusing on my training for now.”
