The rain hadn’t let up over Friday Harbor when I wandered into San Juan Island Brewing Co. for an early chat. Inside was all warmth — discussing changes since the pandemic including sourdough pizzas, the support of locals and toursists, while inspiring easy laughter from co-owner Sean Aylward and head brewer Jesse Visciglia.
We talked about island life, small-batch creativity, and what it takes to maintain a sense of community.
I tried their Chicken Bacon Blue and a special order pepperoni pizza, both perfect alongside a cold glass of San Juan Pilsner while the rain kept tapping on the windows.
This morning, as we leave Friday Harbor, we recognize that sometimes the best mornings aren’t bright — they’re the ones wrapped in gray skies, good stories, and a sense of place. 🌧️🍕🍺
