We are the same Kurds in northern Iraq whom you urged to stand up against the #Saddam regime in 1991, only to abandon us when we rose up. We were massacred, and 2 million of us were displaced. You were shamed into Operation “#ProvideComfort,” but only after thousands of us had already been killed following your call to rise.
We are the Kurds in #Bakur, south eastern Turkey whose lives and bodies have been sacrificed because of your economic and military ties to Turkey- your NATO allies who built a #jihadi corridor and openly supports ISIS, al-Qaeda and #alNusra
We are the same Kurds in #Rojhilat whom you betrayed during the 1975 #AlgiersAgreement. The Kurdish uprising collapsed overnight; tens of thousands were displaced. Iraqi forces launched severe reprisals—those who witnessed what had happened to our fellow Kurds in Basur and Rojava now refuse to be your foot soldiers.
We are the same Kurds you are trying to strong-arm into a #war we do not wish to participate in.
We know who you are, America.

Inspired by #Iraq's loss in both the #IranIraqWar and #1991GulfWar, #Shia rebels in the south and #Kurdish #Peshmerga in the north rose on #ThisDayInHistory in 1991. Over 100,000 died as a result of these uprisings against the #Baathists / #SaddamHussein, many in army massacres.

#Movie: Onkel Jens (2025). Young #Oslo schoolteacher doesn't speak the #Kurdish of his #Peshmerga parents very well. But when his uncle shows up in the middle of the night and apparently wants to stay indefinitely, the young man has to learn fast. Grade: good!

Maybe this is a dilemma I have to live with ...

I've always been impressed by Kurdish Pershmerga fighting against ISIS and especially by their women fighters

Now I found some pictures showing a kind of ceremony in which women Peshmerga fighters bite into dead snakes and rabbits to tear off the flesh

On the one hand I'm disgusted by the violence against animals, on the other hand it is hard for me to judge people who had to fight so bravely to defend their home and their loved ones and who did drudgery for western countries in the fight against ISIS

#Iraq 🇮🇶: #ISIS militants have recently released a 47-minute video which displays some of their noteable weapons.

Militants use rare Heckler & Koch G36 rifle with ZF 3x4 sight (captured from #Peshmerga in #KRG), Russian ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifle and Iranian AM-50 'Sayyad' anti-materiel rifle.
