The controversial Peregrine lunar lander will be deliberately crashed into Earth by Jan. 18 after failing in its mission to reach the moon. The lander launched last week with a payload that included human remains, an act that the Navajo Nation president said was "tantamount to desecration of this sacred space." Astrobotic's controversial Peregrine lunar lander, which sprang a fatal propellant leak shortly after launching last week, will be deliberately burned up in Earth's atmosphere in the coming days.

Condolences to #Astrobiotic on the loss of the #Peregrine #Moon #lander.
The #PeregrineLander would have landed about 14 #experiments at Sinus Viscositatis, but experienced a failure of its propulsion system several hours after separating from the Centaur V upper stage and Vulcan rocket core stage.
