Il Tempo: 76anni UGL, il segretario generale Capone: “Celebriamo una storia di battaglie e impegno al servizio dei lavoratori”

“Oggi celebriamo un traguardo importante: i 76 anni della UGL, nata il 24 marzo 1950. Una storia lunga e significativa, fatta di impegno, di battaglie e di vicinanza concreta al mondo del lavoro". Lo ha dichiarato Paolo Capone, Segretario Generale dell'UGL, in occasione del 76esimo anniversario del Sindacato. "Abbiamo scelto di festeggiare all'Archivio Centrale dello Stato, un luogo simbolico dove, proprio un anno fa, abbiamo depositato il fondo archivistico dell'UGL - continua la nota -. Un gesto che non rappresenta soltanto un omaggio alla nostra memoria, ma un atto di responsabilità verso la storia: ricostruire il nostro percorso significa rafforzare la nostra identità e rendere ancora più solido il legame tra passato, presente e futuro. Custodire la memoria non è un esercizio di nostalgia, ma uno strumento per comprendere meglio il tempo che viviamo e affrontare con maggiore consapevolezza le sfide che ci attendono. È da qui che vogliamo ripartire, con rinnovata determinazione. Il nostro impegno resta chiaro e immutato: essere sempre dalla parte del lavoro. Dalla parte di chi un lavoro lo cerca, di chi lo ha e lo difende ogni giorno, e di chi lo ha perso e merita nuove opportunità. Per costruire insieme un futuro più giusto, più inclusivo e più dignitoso per tutti”.

Today we celebrate an important milestone: the 76th anniversary of UGL, founded on March 24, 1950. A long and significant history, made of commitment, battles, and concrete support for the world of work. This was declared by Paolo Capone, General Secretary of UGL, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Syndicate. “We have chosen to celebrate at the Central State Archive, a symbolic location where, just one year ago, we deposited the UGL archival fonds – the note continues –. This gesture does not represent only an homage to our memory, but an act of responsibility towards history: reconstructing our path means strengthening our identity and making the link between past, present and future even more solid. Preserving memory is not an exercise in nostalgia, but a tool to better understand the time we live in and to face with greater awareness the challenges that await us. This is where we want to restart, with renewed determination. Our commitment remains clear and unchanged: to always be on the side of work. On the side of those who seek it, those who have it and defend it every day, and those who have lost it and deserve new opportunities. “L'iniziativa promossa dall'UGL a Catania rappresenta un'importante occasione di confronto pubblico su un passaggio cruciale per il futuro della giustizia nel nostro Paese. Il referendum sulla separazione delle carriere dei magistrati è un tema che merita un dibattito aperto e serio, perché riguarda il rapporto di fiducia tra i cittadini e le istituzioni. Sostenere il Sì significa promuovere un sistema più equilibrato, capace di garantire una più netta distinzione tra le funzioni di accusa e di giudizio, rafforzando così le garanzie per tutti. Non si tratta di mettere in discussione l'autonomia e l'indipendenza della magistratura, ma di intervenire sulle regole per rendere il sistema più trasparente e comprensibile. Negli ultimi anni sono emerse criticità che hanno alimentato sfiducia nell'opinione pubblica e che rendono necessario un percorso di rinnovamento. In questo contesto, la separazione delle carriere può contribuire a rafforzare la credibilità dell'ordinamento giudiziario e a garantire maggiore equilibrio tra le parti nel processo. Per queste ragioni invitiamo i cittadini a partecipare al voto del 22 e 23 marzo e a sostenere il Sì: una scelta che guarda al rafforzamento dello Stato di diritto e alla costruzione di una giustizia sempre più fondata su imparzialità, trasparenza e tutela dei diritti". The initiative promoted by UGL in Catania represents an important opportunity for public debate on a crucial issue for the future of justice in our country. The referendum on the separation of judicial careers is a theme that deserves an open and serious discussion, because it concerns the relationship of trust between citizens and institutions. Supporting the Yes means promoting a more balanced system, capable of guaranteeing a clearer distinction between the functions of accusation and judgment, thus strengthening guarantees for all. This is not about questioning the autonomy and independence of the judiciary, but about intervening in the rules to make the system more transparent and understandable. In recent years, critical issues have emerged that have fueled distrust in the public opinion and that make a process of renewal necessary. In this context, the separation of careers can contribute to strengthening the credibility of the judicial system and ensuring greater balance between the parties in the process. For these reasons, we invite citizens to participate in the vote on March 22nd and 23rd and to support the Yes: a choice that looks to strengthening the rule of law and building a justice increasingly based on impartiality, transparency and the protection of rights.” This was stated by Paolo Capone, General Secretary of UGL, on the occasion of the event promoted by UGL in Catania dedicated to the reasons for voting Yes in the referendum on justice.

Il Tempo: Iran, Paolo Capone (Leader UGL): “Preoccupa l'impatto economico del conflitto. Prevenire ricadute su rincari e occupazione”

"Destano forte preoccupazione le possibili ricadute economiche e sociali dell'attacco congiunto condotto da Israele e Stati Uniti contro l'Iran. In un contesto geopolitico già fortemente instabile è indispensabile adottare misure preventive per tutelare famiglie, lavoratori e sistema produttivo dalle conseguenze che potrebbero derivare da un eventuale prolungamento del conflitto. Le tensioni nell'area del Golfo stanno già generando forti oscillazioni nei mercati energetici, con il rischio di rialzi significativi dei prezzi legati alla sicurezza delle rotte marittime e, in particolare, alla situazione dello Stretto di Hormuz, snodo essenziale per l'approvvigionamento globale di petrolio e gas. Un eventuale blocco prolungato o anche solo un rallentamento dei traffici energetici avrebbe conseguenze rilevanti sui costi dell'energia, sull'inflazione e sulla competitività delle imprese, con effetti che potrebbero riflettersi sull'occupazione e sul potere d'acquisto dei lavoratori. Per queste ragioni riteniamo necessario muoversi con tempestività sul piano interno. Auspichiamo la convocazione di un tavolo di confronto tra Governo e parti sociali per monitorare l'evoluzione della crisi, valutare misure di contenimento dei costi energetici e predisporre strumenti di tutela a favore dei settori produttivi e dei lavoratori maggiormente esposti. In una fase così delicata, la priorità deve essere la salvaguardia della stabilità economica e sociale del Paese, attraverso un'azione preventiva e condivisa.” Lo ha dichiarato Paolo Capone, Segretario Generale UGL, in merito alle possibili ricadute economiche della crisi in Medio Oriente.

Iran, Paolo Capone (Leader UGL): “I am concerned about the economic impact of the conflict. Preventing repercussions and rising prices and unemployment.”

The potential economic and social repercussions of the joint attack conducted by Israel and the United States against Iran cause strong concern. In a geopolitically already highly unstable context, it is essential to adopt preventative measures to protect families, workers, and the productive system from the consequences that could arise from an eventual prolongation of the conflict. Tensions in the Persian Gulf are already generating strong fluctuations in energy markets, with the risk of significant price increases linked to maritime security and, in particular, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial hub for global oil and gas supplies. A prolonged blockade or even a slowdown in energy traffic would have significant consequences on energy costs, inflation, and business competitiveness, with effects that could reflect on employment and workers’ purchasing power. For these reasons, we believe it is necessary to act promptly on the internal front. We hope for the convening of a table for discussion between the Government and social partners to monitor the evolution of the crisis, evaluate measures to contain energy costs, and prepare tools to support productive sectors and workers most exposed. In such a delicate phase, the priority must be the safeguarding of the country’s economic and social stability, through a preventative and shared action.” This was stated by Paolo Capone, General Secretary of UGL, regarding the potential economic repercussions of the crisis in the Middle East.
