My latest blog post explores a Multi-Material Thermal Analysis using HYPRE BoomerAMG with a custom POSIT accelerator called Uttunga, and compares it to the x86 IEEE 754 standard.

Well crud. Looks like #Posit has gone full #enshittification too. I hope there's a good archive of previous versions that don't have this crap in them. So disappointing, though I can't say that I'm surprised given their direction over the years.

Might publish a blog or two in a few weeks about my work with OpenFOAM, different profilers, and an implementation of an LBM CFD kernel on RISC-V with POSITS.

What a great company to be working for. Learning so much!

Reminder that #Posit the creator of #Quarto works with #Palantir, and this is why we can't have nice things lol https://posit.co/blog/posit-and-palantir/

Is there not enough other clients for data science that you can't resist working for the evil ones??

I do like quarto tho :/

Posit and Palantir - Posit

In this blog post, we hope to clarify the nature of our relationship with Palantir.

Posit

Most Posit issues do not start with a visible failure.

They build up through configuration choices, version drift, and infrastructure decisions that no longer fit how the platform is used.

Over time, this leads to unstable deployments, timeouts, security concerns, and harder upgrades.

At Jumping Rivers, our Posit Health Check reviews configuration, servers, versions, and security to surface risk early.

So today I vibe coded a #positron /vscode extension to detect SQL strings (in R scripts) called by {DBI} and other common packages with functions that call SQL strings, it then provides code completion/suggestions. It also has super buggy code highlighting. Oh and it only really works with #duckdb. It's so rough right now but I feel like it would be amazingly useful if it worked well, does anything like this already exist / can someone build a stable version of it please 🤣 ? #rstats #posit

Yesterday, I started shaping Neovim into my new R IDE. "Why?", you may ask. 🧵

Update: a person from #posit saw my post on BlueSky and initiated a rebuild.

Still wondering why nobody noticed or reported this earlier. The total duration was ~ 2 weeks, or maybe a bit longer even, depending on when the library update happened.

Most likely nobody noticed yet as most people don't update their syslib reguraly (enough).

(And yes, I didn't report it on purpose immediately as I was curious to find out what happens as I already reported the last case before that for libgit2 ~ 1.5 years ago)
