Well crud. Looks like #Posit has gone full #enshittification too. I hope there's a good archive of previous versions that don't have this crap in them. So disappointing, though I can't say that I'm surprised given their direction over the years.
@thatdnaguy It's been announced as coming for a little bit here on Masto (and I assume other socials). I'm not surprised, honestly.
At least you have to INSTALL it manually:
"Because Posit Assistant is a tool you must proactively install, you can “disable” it simply by not installing it or by removing it. We are working on adding more granular administrative and user controls for when these tools are ultimately made available for organizations."
@rmflight I'll take that over it being standard part of the install that you have to disable like Firefox.
With all of these moves, my long-term concern is that they're aiming for some sort of monetization of the technology and while it's optional now, with enough time it'll become the core of the product.
