人工合成：所有PFAS物質都是人工合成的。最早的PFAS物質出生於1930年代，隨後在1950年代，更多的PFAS物質被工廠大量生產、廣泛用於各項產品，一直到今日還是如此。
永久性化學物質：因碳原子與氟原子之間的鍵結力超強，PFAS物質在自然環境中非常難以分解（例如：PFOA在水體中的半衰期超過92年，PFOS則是超過41年，某些PFAS聚合物在土壤中甚至可以存在超過1000年），所以有了「永久性化學物質（Forever Chemicals）」的別名。

【不沾鍋、消防泡沫和速食包裝袋的祕密】
2000年8月，杜邦與坦納特家達成和解，勞勃原本可以拿到他的律師費用，然後整個事件就此落幕，但勞勃不打算就這麼跟杜邦善了。他說：「我感到憤怒」。隔年春天，勞勃寄了一封信給所有相關執法機關，內容長達972頁，並附上136件物證，控訴杜邦對環境造成的污染以及對週邊社區的健康造成極大威脅。EPA 之後以「刻意隱藏PFOA的毒性以及其存在於環境中的事實，違反美國毒管法」的罪名起訴杜邦，雙方在2005年達成和解，杜邦必須支付1,650萬美元的和解金額，然而這還不到當年杜邦靠著PFOA所賺得錢的2%。

Er blijven pfas lekken in het water van Schiphol naar de verdere omgeving. De GGD waarschuwt om geen zelfgevangen vis te eten uit het water eromheen, en moestuinen niet te irrigeren met vervuild water. Waarom wordt er maar niet ingegrepen?
"Het is wachten tot de volgende nieuwe massaal gebruikte stof aan het licht komt waarvan de effecten toch schadelijker zijn dan we hadden gedacht. Voor onszelf, maar vooral voor het ecosysteem als geheel."

Via onze kippen hoopte ik mijn kinderen te leren waar ons eten vandaan komt. Maar achter hun rug om gooi ik de eieren, vergiftigd met lood en PFAS, in de kliko – een luxe die merels en grutto’s niet hebben.

PFAS are known as 'forever chemicals' because they do not easily break down in the natural environment or living tissue. The products have been linked to serious health problems in humans, including cancer, kidney disease and low birth weight."

So, I happened to tune into a local commercial radio station to hear the weather report, and there was an ad by some group talking about how #Maine Governor #JanetMills was taking away everyone's morning coffee! Of course, that was republican scaremongering, since the ban is on #CoffeeMakers that have #PFAS and other #Foreverchemicals as part of their parts and/or seals. Simple solution to that. BUY A STOVETOP COFFEE POT! That's what I grew up drinking, and that's what I use now. I wouldn't use an aluminum one, but the stainless steel ones aren't expensive, and if cleaned properly, produce great tasting coffee for YEARS!

"In 2021, the University of Strathclyde published the measurement data of wear simulations on uncoated P10 epoxy under weather conditions of rain and hail. The aim was to produce a map showing the intensity of erosion for wind turbines.
"However, those measurement results were in principle not directly usable for blades, because only the wear of the leading edge of the blades is dominant.
"But the results were used by the Norwegian Turbine Group to calculate the amount of epoxy dust for the entire surface of the blades. That gave no less than 62 kg. epoxy dust over the total surface per year!"

"#C8 is today defined as two chemicals—#PFOA and #PFOS—that are part of a class of more than 12,000 substances known collectively as #PFAS, short for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Also known as '#ForeverChemicals' because that’s pretty much how long they linger in the environment, PFAS are used in thousands of products from textiles to #nonstick pans to #cosmetics to FireFightingFoam to #FoodPackaging, and more. The chemicals have been linked to a host of physical ills, including decreased fertility, high blood pressure in pregnant people, increased risk of certain cancers, developmental delays and low birthweight in children, hormonal disruption, high cholesterol, and reduced effectiveness of the immune system."
