"#C8 is today defined as two chemicals—#PFOA and #PFOS—that are part of a class of more than 12,000 substances known collectively as #PFAS, short for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Also known as '#ForeverChemicals' because that’s pretty much how long they linger in the environment, PFAS are used in thousands of products from textiles to #nonstick pans to #cosmetics to FireFightingFoam to #FoodPackaging, and more. The chemicals have been linked to a host of physical ills, including decreased fertility, high blood pressure in pregnant people, increased risk of certain cancers, developmental delays and low birthweight in children, hormonal disruption, high cholesterol, and reduced effectiveness of the immune system."

"The phrase 'Better Living Through Chemistry' (BLTC) is a variant of a #DuPont advertising slogan, 'Better Things for Better Living...Through Chemistry'. DuPont adopted it in 1935 and it was their slogan until 1982 when the 'Through Chemistry' part was dropped. Since 1999, their slogan has been 'The miracles of science'.

The phrase 'Better Living Through Chemistry' was used on products that were not affiliated with DuPont to circumvent trademark infringement.[citation needed] This transmutation is now more commonly used than the original. This statement is used for commentary on several different topics, from the promotion of prescription or recreational drugs, to the praise of chemicals and #plastics, to the sarcastic criticism of the same."

Le procès opposant l’usine 3M à un collectif de citoyens s’ouvre mardi 24 février et devrait durer au moins trois jours. D’un côté, la mise en cause : l’usine du groupe 3M — connu pour son Scotch et ses Post-it — située à Zwinjndrecht, près du port d’Anvers en Belgique. De l’autre, quelque 1 400 riverains réunis sous l’appellation « Darkwater3M », une référence au film Dark Waters racontant l’histoire vraie d’un avocat lancé dans un combat contre la firme qui commercialise le Teflon.
