Old pic but here goes:

If you’ve been watching my Bluesky skeets, then you would know that I’m building myself a PC.

This is the back of my build with messy cables

(Recently, I removed the Molex cable because what modern application needs those? Also, I fixed up the cable management.)

Hey uh, #PCbuilders, dumb question.

This laptop takes its m.2 SSDs in caddies with an interface adapter. If I put an NVMe drive into bay 2 it complains about... PCIe storage in bay 2/3, fair enough.

If I remember correctly it's NVMe m.2 that has only one notch (M key) and SATA that has two (B+M key), which therefore means I can put a SATA m.2 SSD in where an NVMe m.2 SSD resides.

Am I wrong, or

The move threatens to raise prices for #PCBuilders since #China has long been the main manufacturer of #GraphicsCards, #Motherboards, and many other components. The #tariffs also target other Chinese imports including #RobotVacuums, #AirPurifiers, various kinds of #ElectricMotors, and #trackpad units valued at over $100.

The tariffs, which will last at least until May 31, 2025, will also affect motherboards and PC desktop cases assembled in China, along with robot vacuums.

Hey #PCBuilders, I have an RTX 2070 Super and since I'm a Linux gamer 98% of the time, I've been thinking about going team red. I found a dude who might be down to trade me a Radeon VII for my 2070S... is that a good deal or a bad deal?

Linux compatibility should be way better, and it seems like performance is comparable, but idk about raytracing performance and I've heard the R VII can be pretty loud.

Opinions? Advice?

#PCBuilders... why must everything have $&^£"&*!! RGB lights on them.

I want a functional powerful PC not the lightshow of a Jean-Michel Jarre concert.

Wasted on my PC case anyway.

Wanna see my PC case? Here it is..

no, it's not IN there. That *IS* the case ;D

(it's a repro.. It's chipboard and veneer not an antique and so I had no qualms taking it apart and building my pc in it. Fans etc are mounted at the rear.)

OK #pcbuilders -- did it. Everything works. For anyone who has an older SFFtime P-ATX case with the PCIe 3.0 riser cable, here's my setup: Gigabyte X570S Aorus Elite AX + EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti XC GAMING (08G-P5-3663-KL). I pre-emptively changed the setting from Gen 4 to Gen 3 before engaging the riser--I didn't even try to see if the Auto setting would work. I know this is the common advice, but I've seen reports of Gen 3 risers not working with Gen 4 devices even after doing this. YMMV.

Does anybody know a good company that builds PCs in the UK? I only know PC Specialists (had an awful experience) and Overclockers which seem to have a real lack of parts and jacked up prices.
