My main server now has two #Toshiba hard drives. I have no idea why they are so unpopular in the #selfhosting community when they are cheap, quiet, and reliable. I suppose #WD and #Seagate have good marketing departments.

Und da fiel mir gerade ein, ich brauche ja fürs #NAS eine neue Ersatz-#HDD.

Ich habe Januar 2019 2 x 6 TB von #WesternDigital RED für je 199€ gekauft.

Mai 2021 dann 214€ für eine #Seagate IronWolf Pro 6 TB, als meine erste WD den Geist aufgab. Dafür hatte ich dann die Ersatz-WD wegen Garantiefall.

Die musste ich ja jetzt einsetzen.

Natürlich kostet jetzt, Juni 2026, eine 6 TB WD RED Plus 260€ und die IronWolf 6 TB 230€.

Das nenn ich mal wertstabil...

Most I've ever spent in a single day, probably? (not counting the times when I saved up long-term n buy PC build components all in one go back in the day I guess, but) I got my wife's dream #Dyson hair thingy for her belated bday present, got myself #AirPods Pro 3 (+ case), and a 16TB #Seagate HDD lol as a 'backup' drive in case any of my drives die (pls dont). Also Mocha's vet bills too was kind of expensive recently, and that was just the deposit (hoping I cld claim this from his insurance tho, after the final bill). I'm still adding to my savings, for sure, but yea this month I promise will be the last month I'm allowing myself these type of purchases cos my #homelab 's pretty set now I think after months of getting new storage during this #AI crap, and yea I'd like to see my savings grow a lot more significantly, a lot faster.

#storage Who does that? One of two #Seagate 20TB drives had come configured with a 2 MB cluster size!!! No wonder 1 TB was filling 6 and still going!!! Wow. I will make match the other one that is at phys and cluster of 4096 like I would expect. What a boondoggle! A lot of people would be lost. Smh.
