When I start building personal web services these days - dashboards to help manage our home or little test projects - I have to first sit myself down and say: "yes, we like the cloud services. The cloud services are a shiny trap. They are the fairy feast you must turn away from. Do not eat the goblin fruit at the altar of their edge networks and scaling deploys, because your data will not be your own and your app will exist at the whims of a corporation whose product is you. Now, SSH into your box. Create a SQLite database. Create a Deno API. Create an HTMX form. There. You own your shit again. Isn't that better?"
