The Island Games are coming to Orkney next month and I talked to organiser Kirsty Talbot about this “mini Olympics” coming to Kirkwall and other locations. Thousands of participants, officials and visitors are expected for the week-long event. And it’s all free across 12 sports, with arts and culture also on the menu! #IslandGames #Orkney #LorraineKelly #OrkneyLibrary https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/lifestyle/6761178/orkney-island-games-excitement-builds-for-the-mini-olympics/
The Orkney Wireless Museum is an Aladdin’s Cave for anybody with an interest in how technology has developed in the last 100 years. On the outside, the premises seem small, but once inside the Kirkwall venue, it’s a treasure trove. I loved my visit to the Kirkwall volunteer-run initiative and heartily recommend it! #Orkney #OrkneyWirelessMuseum #Kirkwall #VisitOrkney #OrkneyLibrary https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/past-times/6743897/orkney-wireless-museum-audio-artefacts/
Inside the Orkney Wireless Museum, a treasure trove of radios, radars, jukeboxes and more

The premises are small, but here's a treasure trove for those who like radios, TVs, gramophones, cassettes and other communication tools.

My local library pulled a copy of Seamus Heaney’s Wintering Out a few hours before closing & rang me to tell me they’d done it and it was waiting for me. This time of year can be lonely. This little thing felt like a big thing & made a big difference to me! #Libraries are amazing. #JoinIn #poetry #orkney #OrkneyLibrary
