Our vision how #isotope #fractionation can be used to understand metabolic pathways and better exploit biological archives - #Orbitrap, #Metabolomics, #treerings, isotope #ecology, multidimensional isotopic #fingerprints- https://nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/nph.19973
Greetings from California! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
PhD student Alice Orme is spending her #IMPRS research stay at the Geological and Planetary Sciences division of #CalTech. She's hosted by John Eiler & Alex Sessions to learn how to analyze position-specific #isotopes using #OrbitrapπŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬.

Luckily, PSM rescoring using predicted fragment ion intensities (with tools such as #Prosit, #MS2Rescore, etc.) can significantly improve the immunopeptidomics results over standard sequence database searching. πŸ’ͺ

Unfortunately, existing fragment ion intensity prediction models have been developed for #Orbitrap instruments. In contrast, #timsTOF instruments are increasingly popular for immunopeptidomics due to their increased sensitivity.

Do you use GC-MS for #botanicals and #essential oils, and are curious about how high-res #orbitrap instruments compare against traditional single quads?

Our lab collaborated with UNC's MS core to produce this interesting study, co-written by our grad student Ellie and my friend and collaborator Diane! A great collaborative team!
