This long weekend’s #shenanigans with tech outcomes:

1) Nuked the install on the #OrangePiRV2. Seems like it did mot like my poor attempt in switching it over from #Ubuntu to #Debian via sources.list

2) Installed #BredOS on the Opi RV2- it’s okay; super limited repos and graphical issues.

3) On the #orangepizero2w I have switched the DE over to #Trinity from #XFCE. It is now running smoother.

4) #Ebox is updated and running #Q4OS. Was able to get #Steam installed for some light gaming. #Retrodeck was alos installed for some #RetroGaming

While working on the #ebox, I was also toying around with the #orangepizero2w. After some tweaking, purging, and updating, I know have the Opi running #Debian #Trixie with the @tde Trinity desktop environment. It's running pretty snappy for most things; web browsing is really the only exception.

@wyatt for shits and giggles I used #Nala to install #Flatpak with the - -install-recommend and - -install-suggests flags…..

Well I am looking at 2600ish packages being installed; roughly 6.2 gigs on the #OrangePiZero2W

I will check in it in the morning to see if it survives

Tech shenanigans update: After playing around with #SBCs to work as #retrogaming devices, I gave up and move some rarely utilized mini PCs around.

Moved the #M1MacMini to the living room TV and the #N97 mini PC to the bedroom.

Now I should be able to emulate retro games on all the TVs! With this change I can now do 3D emulation.

As for the SBCs, most have been placed in a box. Currently only tinkering with the #OrangePiRV2 and #OrangePiZero2W.

After much trial and tribulation (failed updates, lack of support, ect.), a few more #SBC have been regulated to collecting dust today ... They will most likely not be remembered fondly or at all:

Got my #OrangePiZero2W booting up. Turns out the old HDMI mini cable I had was incorrect, needed an HDMI micro...which ironically is larger than mini. Both the 4GB and 1GB boards booted up fine using the desktop. #embedded #LowPowerEmbedded

Ordered a couple of Orange Pi Zero 2W for evaluation purposes. I like that they have USB-C instead of micro like Rasp. We'll see how well they work. It's always so hard to find decent documentation on power consumption in low power modes with these SBCs, seems like all anyone cares about is their performance and power at full usage. I want info on how much they consume while idle!
