In the light of the #FCC announcement, I suppose I could claim to be happy that my home router/firewall is a rack-mounted system running #OpenBSD.

Well, I am happy about that. But I'm happier still that I don't live in the US so the FCC's decisions don't (directly) affect me.

Something weird happened on #openbsd to me:
I filled up the partition that contains / while trying to install the xfce meta-package.
Since the overall installation failed i was (i think) clean up most of it with a run of "pkg_delete -a". It removed a lot of stuff again at least.

But my / is still full. After digging around a bit i found:
# file /dev/sd3
/dev/sd3: XZ compressed data

It's size is 779M.
I assume this is some kind of package caching leftover?
How to get correctly rid of that?

@cynicalsecurity so true <3

I'd go as far to say that the manpages are one of #openbsd main and most valuable feature.

It's seems confusing first to not fire up a browser and search for a howto blog (or the arch wiki) - no you just type "man" or "apropos" into your system console - the crazy thing: this even works if the internet is down, as you are currently setting up your internet router ;P

The OpenBSD init system and boot process

In recent weeks, systemd has both embraced slopcoding and laid the groundwork for age verification built right into systemd-based Linux distributions, there's definitely been an uptick in people talking about alternative init systems. If you want to gain understanding in a rather classic init system, OpenBSD's is a great place to start.

OpenBSD has a
