And now the truth about Govt imposed rates-caps on local-bodies. —Rates-caps will almost certainly guarantee significantly increased rents for pensioners etc in social housing in many areas; as people who need social housing are mostly vulnerable people with little or no other options, hence are a soft target for councils to gouge with little blowback.
Indeed, imposed rates-caps are INTENDED to do exactly this - they are designed to force local-bodies to sell off your public assets and services, and become increasingly payer-uses. They are ACT Party ideology being undemocratically forced on us at local level.
If the proposed rates-caps go ahead, let's hope the general public step up and defend vulnerable people so they're not such a soft target for right-leaning councils. Even better, let's make this a #OneTermGovernment
