Found some #oldDocuments.
It turns out that The Savings Bank of Paisley was a thing from 1838 to at least 1956. Funny how my family members 70-90 years ago seem to have been able to save up about the same amount as me in real terms ... this account had a maximum of £26/7/2 in it for a year or so after the account holder I think got a redundancy payment from the munitions factory that caused his terminal disease. A little over £1000 in today's money.
