Found some #oldDocuments.

It turns out that The Savings Bank of Paisley was a thing from 1838 to at least 1956. Funny how my family members 70-90 years ago seem to have been able to save up about the same amount as me in real terms ... this account had a maximum of £26/7/2 in it for a year or so after the account holder I think got a redundancy payment from the munitions factory that caused his terminal disease. A little over £1000 in today's money.

Today I scanned many #oldDocuments to clean up the office. The oldest was from 1908.
The way official documents changed over the years is interesting: copied by Hand, handwritten on forms, typewriter, Whiteprint, Carbon Copies, Action Paper, Xerography, thermosensitive paper, continuous form paper. Even the old stuff was mostly A4.
Some had good layout and print, some barely decipherable in their times.
And then staples appeared from one dreaded point in time on!
Regual #staples, tiny staples,…
@cbgenealogy my plan is to give all documents I have to the appropriate archives when I have finished using them. I found a collection of Title Deeds in a secondhand store a while back and I am looking at where they should go. #genealogy #olddocuments
