It has been "a few days" now and while the mini is much drier, some of the paint still rubs off.
So I guess it will take a few more days, before I can varnish and finish them.
Ima be honest here, I'm REALLY undecided on this. I quite like the visual result, the grime looks great, it unified the minis perfectly, it's a really nice addition to a paintjob.
I could also totally see this have some fun and fancy application using colors that are not some shade of dirt, like more striking colors to tint a model, whites and greens for some weird glowy ghosts and so on. (Do they make fluorescent oil colors? I assume they do...)
But the waiting time is KILLING me!
I normally paint a figure or two, mostly from start to finish, in spurts. While there have been exceptions, with minis being primed and underpainted and then left like this for a while as I do other stuff, as a trend I generally don't start new modells until the old one are mostly finished.
Waiting for the oils feels like it's blocking me, stopping me from really starting something new because the old isn't finished yet.
GAH!
Very annoying.
