A molecularly defined subpopulation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells controls the generation of myelinating oligodendrocytes during postnatal development
Oligodendrocyte precursor cells are a diverse population; does this functional diversity arise from the existence of molecularly defined subpopulations or from environmental interactions? This study shows that C1ql1 expression defines a subpopulation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells that are indispensable for production of oligodendrocytes and myelin during postnatal brain development.
