#OGPSummit avslutades förra veckan med ett tal av Spaniens kung Felipe VI. Jag deltog också i ett exklusivt möte med kungen – men jag var tvungen att utnyttja min längd för att få ett foto!😉

🇬🇧 The King's Speech - Ending #OGPSummit 2025🫅

#OGPSummit ended last week with a speech by King Felipe VI of Spain. I also attended an exclusive meet & greet with the king - but I had to use my length to get a photo!😉

On the way back to Barcelona from the #OGPSummit in Vitoria (which was the 34th province I have visited of 50 in España 🇪🇸). A few food and scenery pics, since while I think shots of people talking about combatting disinformation or supporting democracy are exciting, others may not agree. 😅
Vitoria is suuuuper bike-friendly, people seemed to be biking everywhere, and lots of parks (plus the Anillo Verde around the city) so great for running. And delicious pintxos of course!

There must be coherency between words and actions of government to strengthen democracy, King Felipe said.
“We must orient ourselves constantly, with a proactive attitude about strengthening democracy.”
“Deberíamos orientarnos constantemente, con una actitud proactiva en fortalecer la democracia.”
He expressed Spain’s firm commitment to democracy, to multilateralism & to more participatory and transparent democracy.

“The vitality of democracy depends on a collective commitment.
“La vitalidad de la democracia depende en un compromiso colectivo.”

Rey Felipe recalled a time ~3 decades ago (when he was a young man & Spain was a still-new democracy) when many felt democracy was going to be end state for many/most countries, “The End of History” as per Francis Fukuyama’s book. 1/
