DarkeSword (note the e) is a cool person who became the new administrator of #OCReMix after djpretzel stepped down and his only deviousness is tricking people into making more Mega Man music.
DarkSword (note the lack of an e) is something very different and not cool at all being used to steal information from iOS users.
So what I'm saying is know about the not-cool-one to protect yourself. But, since it's also #VGMWednesday here's some music by the cool one.
My pick for today is another from the #OCReMix mix flood for the Star Fox album Double Wing Damage, because... klezmer punk. I don't think there's anything more to say.
I'm still going through the new #OCReMix Star Fox album, Double Wing Damage. There was a mix flood on the site and amongst those tracks is "Dark Star." Taken from a 5 second source composed by Hajime Hirasawa for the first game, as one of the judges put it...
"Xaleph does it again with another Xpansive performance. Xpanding upon the smallest amount of material and making it more interesting and more developed than the original. You have the Xcellent knack of knowing just when to change or add things to prevent the piece from getting boring and stale. Every time a pattern/loop feels like it's about to get to that point you change it up.
The orchestral section in the middle was a great deviation and not what I Xpected to hear in the middle of your dark psytrance style. Production is great as always, crystal clear.

The 5,000th #OCReMix is an Eagles-style cover of a Link's Awakening song. "Hotel Kohollint." From the comments on the MP3...
"In general, there's very little actual melodic content from 'Hotel California,' but stylistically and structurally it follows it pretty closely; as for Sword Search, the melodic hooks are present (if somewhat liberally arranged) pretty much throughout."
The #OCReMix website has been sluggish for me, lately, but when you can check out TimeShift, their new album project celebrating 25 years. The album notes and the video teaser point out that the 19 tracks on it are split across 3 eras, Orange, Indigo, and Silver, paying homage to what was posted during prior site designs, arranging songs from games which were made in the last 25 years... mostly. It wouldn't be a celebration of OCR without "Corridors of Time" and "Stickerbrush Symphony." : - P
My pick this week is the 1st track, "Accept the Truth," described as a psytrance and trap arrangement of "Land of Eikons" from #FinalFantasyXVI. The arrangement was by the veteran Xaleph with his daughter Audiomint matching the original track's female vocals, freestyle violin by pointblanket... oh yeah, and the lyrics are done by Mega Ran. They are on-point for the game's story without spoiling it. Here it is on Soundcloud.

Another #OCReMix to suggest. This time, from Metroid Prime. Phendrana Drifts gets all the attention, but once you get down to the reactor room of the crashed (and submerged) frigate there's a beautiful piece that plays, and Outset Initiative took the... initiative 3 years ago to make this folk instrument arrangement of it with vocals.
