Back in the glory days of eMusic, a bizarre album suddenly appeared on our radars. It was something about the number one song in heaven by a band pretty much none of us knew. We couldn't figure out if it was new sounding old or something old sounding ahead of its time.

Turns out it was the brilliant brainchild of Sparks and Giorgio Moroder "No. 1 in Heaven" - released 45 years ago yesterday or the day before.

Didn't get a chance to post a big one yesterday.

One of the first albums I purchased totally blind was Sloan's Twice Removed. They were an early discovery of mine as I began my exploration into music beyond what my sisters introduced me to. As much as I enjoyed it (and the follow-up), it was 25 years ago that their 4th album, Navy Blues, embedded itself in my CD player for weeks on end.

Yes, it's "Beatles-esque" - but most great power pop is.
