With thanks to Winning Writers’ managing editor Annie Mydla for her stunning review of my 2024 collection of pandemic poems, After Spruce, in her recent article, “Three Books that Almost Won a North Street Book Prize”. Yes, I didn’t win the prestigious Prize, but had I won I would never have received these beautifully written – and very witty – words from Annie, who herself pays homage to Tom Jenks’ inspirational Spruce in her exploration of how two works of experimental poetry, a little bug from Wuhan and a whole lot of innocent pangolins just happened to collide.
