our local educational farm is experimenting currently with #NoFence as a virtual geofence alternative to physical fences: https://www.nofence.no/en/product/goat-and-sheep
In short it uses a combination of sound alerts and light buzzing/vibrations to indicate to the animals where the fence areas area, and after a while they apparently learn where the boundaries are.
