So, it was the first pre-season game of the 2026 CFL season today - Saskatchewan Roughriders at Calgary Stampeders. Even though one of those teams is the winner of last season's Grey Cup, and both have huge devoted fan bases, TSN couldn't be bothered to cover the game. No broadcast.

They have 5 separate TSN channels on my local TV service. There is rarely more than 2, and virtually never more than 3 different programs spread across those 5 channels. There are always duplicates.

But TSN did carry some idiotic *talk show about the NFL* during today's CFL game.

Jeebus, TSN - could you at least act like you care about Canadian sports once in a while?

Well, this is a real scheduling fustercluck. Who thought having the Superbowl and the winter Olympics on at the same time was a good idea?

Now I have to try to figure how I'm supposed to ignore both of them simultaneously.

I agree completely that the No Fun League is boring and unwatchable, and that these changes - no matter what Stewart Johnston claims is the reason - are trying to turn Canadian football into "NFL Lite" football.

Why? A stupid attempt at chasing dollars, I think. They see the huge Canadian NFL audience and think they can change the Canadian game, and that audience will then come watch CFL! No. The people who watch NFL instead of CFL aren't going to be interested in NFL Lite. It will, however, drive away many of the CFL's existing fans.

My partner and I watch all the games, every week. If these changes go into effect, we'll just stop watching, completely. She asked me the very pertinent question "Why does one man, newly appointed commissioner, get to change the historic rules of a hundred-year-old Canadian tradition? Without even consulting fans?".

If these rule changes take effect, Stewart Johnston will be known as the man that killed Canadian football.
