Well that's disappointing - Nirav Patel of @frameworkcomputer just "clarified" a few things on their forum relating to their sponsorships (https://community.frame.work/t/framework-supporting-far-right-racists/75986/1611), but said of the laptops going to Omarchy that "These are marketing/R&D expenses rather than donations". Not sure why he thinks anyone would be reassured by such a distinction.
He also said that they will make sure to that they "research and confirm that as [sponsored projects] currently exist, they uphold appropriate community standards". No mention of what those standards are, but given his earlier "big tent" comment, it doesn't sound like a high bar.
On the plus side, they're going to be transparent about who they are financially sponsoring, which is good, but, at least in my opinion, not good enough.
I'm not impressed that this is what they came up with after several days.
The list includes monetary sponsorships and unit donations, but not units sent for marketing (e.g. press units) or development purposes, some of which is pre-release hardware we send under NDA. These are marketing/R&D expenses rather than donations, but also, we havenât been doing good record-keeping in the past on these.
