“Night science is the creative side of the scientific process” — what does that mean?

Recently, I learned about this lecture series about “Night Science” and the creative process from the wonderful @HeidiSeibold !

Coined, apparently, by Jacques Monod, “Day Science” is the scientific process we talk and brag about, whereas “Night Science” is where our ideas float freely — and this is paramount to scientific creativity and in turn to progress.

The implications are overwhelming.

Night Science - Learning

#Creativity as an antidote to research becoming too predictable

In this #openaccess commentary, Markus Baer, Anja Groth, Anders Lund & Katrine Sonne-Hansen argue why risk-taking and blue-sky research needs to be actively fostered in budding scientists

Just a reminder that
Itai Yanai will be talking at noon EST on Thursday but also that I (and you) can listen to him talking to other great researchers on his #podcast #NightScience: https://nightscience.buzzsprout.com
Night Science

Where do ideas come from? In each episode, scientists Itai Yanai and Martin Lercher explore science's creative side with a leading colleague. New episodes come out every second Monday.
