With some news outlets very keen on pushing you toward their app these days, if you respond to the app's push notification, the news outlet shouldn't then also send you a breaking news email alert for same story (or vice versa). The duplication is an annoying user design feature which undermines brand trust.

I know Google News is trying to push content to you that you may be interested in but how bad does the algorithm need to be to keep showing sports even though I've literally clicked "show me less of this" hundreds of times.

Seems to go through phases. First bombarded with football, then formula one, then rugby, golf, tennis, sailing,... Only to start over with football again. Been through the loop several times now.

Where is the simple "no sports" option?
