The beginning is today | Collage week 51 2025 - iHannas Blog

Today is the first day of the rest of your life, I hope you are doing something you enjoy and are planning for a creative and yummy year ahead! I used to try to set goals, make plans and create a new calendar for myself in a January first frenzy, but this time I admit

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 🥳🎉🎊

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am cautiously optimistic about my prospects for the year ahead. Feel free to read my first blog post in 3 years to find out why.

A New Year Is For New Beginnings

As another new year commences, I am shocked to note that the last blog post I wrote for this site was submitted almost three years ago to the day. While I don’t wish to dwell on the cause of…

My only request is that you don’t cry while reading this as much as I cried while writing it. I am relieved to see this year end. Thank you so much for your support and reading the fewer blog posts I published this year compared to years prior. It has been so tough but means so much that people read what I have to say ❤️‍🩹 #newblogpost #blogging https://hey.georgie.nu/farewell2025/
2025: The year of trauma

I disliked so much about this year. It was difficult in so many ways. There was a lot to smile about, but I needed to write this to see the year out. 2026, I am ready.

2025 isn’t over yet, so I found time to squeeze in a #newblogpost finally sharing some highlights from my trip to New York in March 🗽 https://hey.georgie.nu/ny-highlights/
New York highlights

Some highlights from my trip to New York in March, which was part of a longer trip to multiple locations around the world.

I did the Camelback hike in March of this year. It was worth seeing the sunset in Phoenix from the summit. I’m normally a lover of lush forest hikes and mountains, but it’s nice to try something different. This hike was quite challenging towards the top, but personally I didn’t find it “extremely difficult” like the grading suggested 🌞 https://hey.georgie.nu/camelback/ #newblogpost
🏜️ Camelback Mountain hike at sunset (Cholla Trail)

I did the famous Camelback Mountain hike in Phoenix, Arizona, earlier this year. A different type of hike to the scenery I usually prefer, it was challenging, but not difficult.

I went to Adelaide for the first time the other week. Great place, and I fit a lot of activities in! ☺️ It motivated me to write a #newblogpost soon after the trip (despite me having a backlog of writing, eek 😅). https://hey.georgie.nu/adelaide/
Six December days in Adelaide

I visited Adelaide, Australia for the first time. I managed to explore a lot of the city and surrounds in six days/five nights!

In this #newblogpost, I discuss the relationship between Afrofuturism and Africanfuturism: how they help us understand and respond to law's inadequacy, dystopia, racial injustice, appropriation of trauma and the algorithmic racist bias of digital technologies.
