Very satisified so far with my very keyboard centric linux setup after switching from macOS. Latest addition is e-mail in the terminal (neomutt) which is a delight. I should start paying for protonmail so I can add that to neomutt as well.
Next up is reviving my parents' almost 20 years old laptop. It's very slow even with a very light distro. Going to try installing new RAM and SSD. #linux #newtolinux
just moved to fedora linux 🐧
new here, still figuring things out.
current workflow: break → google → fix → repeat 🔁
but hey, it’s kinda fun 😄
Switching from Windows to Linux: Everything You Need to Know
If you’ve ever browsed a tech forum or Linux group, you’ve probably seen the same question pop up again and again: “I’m switching from Windows to Linux… which distro should I use?” It’s a fair question — but also the wrong first question. There's a growing interest in switching to Linux recently, with Windows 10 nearing its end of life (EOL)

New to #Linux? Here are 3 quick tips to get you started!
ls -lha: A powerful way to list files. It shows permissions, sizes in human-readable format, and hidden files.
sudo !!: Run the previous command with sudo. Super handy when you forget you need root permissions!
Ctrl+Alt+T: The default shortcut in many distros (like Ubuntu) to open a new terminal window instantly.

I am posting from my new Linux Mint (MATE) installation. I chickened out and used the "live CD", or in my case live USB, setup. Got my essential FF addons and here we are.
This is very nice (read: painless) so far! I have 2 critical use cases this setup has to pass. First is work stuff which should not be difficult since I mainly use online tools like google workspace/apps.

My general suggestion is going to be to start with something else, and also to remind folks that you don't have to distro hop to be happy. If you start on Distribution X and Distribution X always feels like home forever and ever, you're still valid in the Linux space. Even if jerks-on-the-internet tell you that you aren't doing it right. They're wrong, you're happy, and that's what matters.
