Dug into the sewing machine a bit more - the light needs new wiring, it’s cracked inside. So far, the motor wiring still looks good at least. I managed to get the service manual so that shoudl be helpful.
I decided I’m going to use power pole connectors to rebuild the power cables. They're fit for purpose and I have them on-hand.

I wound up taking some beauty shots of grandma’s sewing machine. I am shocked at how good of condition the wiring is in. Either the service center that worked on it did a wiring job.. at some point… or they used some mighty fine wire back in the day.
Edit: I don't think it's been re-wired; the bakelite plug looks original.
