@ajsadauskas I’m no economist, but when the guy that developed the first modern system for measuring GDP (Kuznets) says it’s not a good measure, it might be time to throw it out and start over.

Kuznets in 1962:
“Distinctions must be kept in mind between quantity and quality of growth, between costs and returns, and between the short and long run. Goals for more growth should specify more growth of what and for what.”

@rbreich I know unions help to protect individuals in the workforce and I empathize with all the people affected by these layoffs. But it feels like general support for unions has been eroded over the last several decades. So is there also a way to enumerate the benefits of unions for our economy? If companies like Twitter or Amazon had been unionized, how might that have positively affected the general public’s relationship with those companies? #notaneconomist #askinganexpert
