@paul I've never really felt "lifetime" services are economically viable for any business. I guess by now, rsync.net know their business and wouldn't be offering it if they hadn't carefully considered it. I am still "I would trust nobody".
@_aD i think "lifetime" is the issue. It feels scammy regardless of who the company is, but scams aside (because it's rsync.net who are lovely)...

@_aD maybe scammy is the wrong word, but it does have the hallmarks of "we need a massive cash injection, quick!"
@_aD i'm absolutely not going to say that https://borgbase.com, are a European company, and offer 2TB storage for $150 a year for borg or restic backups
Yes, that's a yearly cost, but 6 years need to go by before you've paid the same as the equivalent rsync.net cost (#NotAnEconomist)
